Check your LinkedIn photo size and circular crop
Already have a photo you like? Check its dimensions, adjust a square crop and preview it as a small round avatar. Download a JPEG up to 1024 × 1024 pixels without enlarging the source crop.
Your selected photo stays in this browser tab. This tool does not upload it, generate an AI portrait or assess your identity. The circular preview is illustrative, not a LinkedIn screenshot.
Choose a photo to check, or try the fictional demo.
Check that your eyes, hair and chin remain inside the circle. Crop only images you have permission to use and preserve any required AI disclosure or watermark. A larger export cannot restore detail in a blurry source.
Need a new portrait rather than a crop? Review our AI examples and paid portrait packs. Photo checking is free; AI generation is paid.
How to crop your LinkedIn photo
- Choose an original photo that you have permission to use. Compare the uncropped image with the square and circular previews.
- Move the horizontal and vertical sliders to centre your face. Use zoom sparingly: a tighter crop has fewer usable pixels.
- Choose a maximum export size: 400, 512 or 1024 pixels square. The status message shows the actual size; small source crops are not enlarged.
- Download the JPEG, then review it in your profile editor before saving. The circle is a display preview; the downloaded file is square.
For a short email signature, a small portrait beside live contact text is often easier to read than a large image. See our email signature template and setup guide.
Square upload, circular preview
Upload a square image to your profile and review how the destination crops it. Keep your eyes, hair and chin clear of the circular edge. Use the small preview to check whether your face is still easy to recognise at avatar size.
What this photo checker can tell you
The tool reads image dimensions and reports the usable crop size. It can help you avoid a crop below 400 × 400 pixels, but it does not detect faces, score attractiveness, verify identity or guarantee that LinkedIn accepts the image. Increasing pixel dimensions cannot fix blur.
LinkedIn’s help page lists a minimum of 400 × 400 pixels and a maximum file size of 8 MB. Check the saved file and the current platform rules before uploading. LinkedIn’s official photo requirements. HeadshotLane is not affiliated with LinkedIn.
Why is my download smaller than the size I selected?
The selected size is a maximum, not a promise of extra detail. For example, a 640 × 800 image can supply a 640 × 640 square at 1× zoom. At 2× zoom, that crop is only 320 × 320 pixels. Zoom out or choose a larger original if you need at least 400 × 400.
Do I need an AI headshot?
A recent, well-lit photo may only need cropping. If you want to explore different professional settings, compare our AI LinkedIn headshot examples or real estate portraits. AI can change facial details, so review the examples and limitations before choosing a paid pack.
Does the tool upload my photo?
No. The selected file is opened locally in this browser tab. The fictional demo loads an example image from this website. Clearing the photo removes it from the tool; downloaded files stay wherever you save them. We count tool actions in aggregate, separately from demo actions, without sending your photo or filename. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control disable those counts. See our privacy policy.
